With a focus on finding the sacred within lived experience, these teachings offer space for reflection, conversation, and reimagining how faith communities engage questions of body, choice, and justice. Rev. McEvoy’s work has been featured in The Christian Citizen, Sojourners, and The Washington Post, and her forthcoming memoir, Finding Sanctuary, will be published in 2027.

About: Join a neighborhood canvass to connect with local businesses and invite them into the Local Business for Free DC campaign, which supports DC Home Rule and resists federal interference. The session begins with a brief training for new participants, while experienced canvassers can assist with zine folding and assembling outreach materials. Participants will then head out in pairs to engage business owners and build support for a values-aligned local economy. Campaign Orientation is encouraged but not required.

About: A weekly mutual aid opportunity to serve alongside the Radcliffe Room, a longstanding ministry supporting neighbors experiencing homelessness. Volunteers help prepare and serve food, distribute clothing, and build relationships with approximately 150 guests. Volunteers arrive at 7:30 AM to set up, with service running from 8:15–9:30 AM. Early mornings are balanced with strong coffee, meaningful work, and a welcoming community.

Participants gather to raise awareness around issues including federal presence in the city, treatment of youth in detention, collaboration between agencies, and voting rights for DC residents. Attendees are encouraged to bring signs, drums, horns, and other noisemakers to make their voices heard.

About: Local activists with Boycott Target DMV hold weekly Saturday pickets outside the 14th Street Target to protest corporate exploitation and community harm. The ongoing action is supported by Shut Down DC and encourages participants to show up, raise awareness, and stand in solidarity—especially during extreme heat, when mutual care and safety are prioritized.
