In the Spring of 2020 – in the midst of a pandemic – the Festival Center began a 3 year journey to reimagine the mission of our nearly 20,000 square foot space on the corner of Mozart and Columbia Road NW. What ultimately resulted is a community space that houses 18 nonprofits at subsidized rental rates, with a podcast room, a full training kitchen, a Chapel and Center for Spiritual Formation, a large meeting room, a co-working space, and is almost completely green with the kitchen being all-electric and with solar panels on the top and sides of the building.
As with all things, none of this happened on our own! We had amazing vendors and partners inside and outside DC governmental agencies. The Festival Center has not cornered the market on wisdom for these kinds of renovations or on making a space a community space, but the wisdom we have gained we want to share! Some of our partners will join us so that you can have direct conversations with them. Come and take a tour of our space, hear from experts, and have an opportunity to ask these experts the questions that will help your house of worship be all that it is meant to be serving faithfully our communities.
